Understand Your Sinful Condition
You are a sinner. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
You do not deserve to go to heaven. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Understand What Christ Has Done For You
Christ died for you sins. Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
He was buried and rose again. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Call on Christ to Save You!
The Bible describes being saved with a variety of different terms that mean the same thing:
Turn from your works. Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Believe on Jesus Christ to save you from your sins. Acts 16:31 - And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Receive Him by faith. John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
Call on Him to save you. Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
